Treats

Like all pets (and people too!), sugar gliders love treats! They get the "sugar" part of their name because in the wild they will bite the bark of the acacia tree to suck out the sap. The sap is commonly called gum arabic and is used in sweeteners and even frosting.

Some companies that breed and sell sugar gliders market their specific treats as being the only thing they can have. However, that is not true. After all, in the wild they don't get packaged foods!

Here is a small list of suggie approved treats:

• Yogurt drops

• great source of protein!!
• Freeze dried meal worms
• I've had the best luck looking at Fleet Farm by the bird food
• A good way to get gliders interested in meal worms
• Fruits and Vegetables

• note: mine have personally never been really interested in the freeze dried ones
